Black Diamond is an annual celebration of the compelling history that Black residents in Meadville share. This event is centered around promoting fellowship between local Black artists, Black businesses, and the greater Meadville community. Through music, food, games, creative demonstrations, and presenters we foster a space for people to learn about various different issues that impact the Black community in Meadville through unique annual themes.

Rahwa is the site coordinator for this event and co-photographer for two years. She was honored to take pictures at Black Diamond event, documenting the smiles and joy of Black Meadville residents and Black Allegheny students. What captured in these photos is the love between Black Meadville students and the Black Allegheny Community. A concern from Black Meadville Residents is that the College is very exclusive and closed off to Black people in Meadville. They want to foster relationship and get to know Black students up on campus but done have access to. When this event comes around every spring both groups of people here get to gather at the park, meet one another, and create life long connections
